Its OK September 21, 2003 C. Strachan (Bahamas) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought this camera for my daughter because she loves photography. She was very happy when I gave it to her. She later told me that the camera only has optical focus and that if you want to get a close up shot of something you have to literally get close to the person to get a close up shot. Pictures taken in poor light conditions come out with no colour and are blurry. It runs through batteries very quickly, and it doesn't use memry cards. So it is not a good camera to take on vacation, because if the batteries die your pictures are lost forever.
i was fooled July 19, 2003 kurt roseman (trinidad& tobago, west indies) i bought this cam thinking it was a good choice however it started out working great but know it sticks i took some realy great photos and by the time i got home i tried i vane to upload them and i could not ever since this cam sticks every time . in my own words this cam stinks i fell like just slaming it against a wall but i paid money for it. i hope i can get a refund or something . if you see this cam do not i stress do not buy it its no good. a ordinary cam user.
Great Digital Cam for the Price July 2, 2003 Michael R. Bunch (Arlington, TX United States) What does one expect for [the price] Geesh.Pros: Price. It takes very good photos for using online. It is also a digital voice recorder, and quite good. It takes short videos, with sound, which are nice, again, for online. It makes a very good "Web Cam". It is small, light weight, and only uses 2 AA batteries. Cons: Bundled software Stinks. Pics aren't as good as a [more expensive] digital cam.
I am really angry at this little POS. April 29, 2003 PAUL T MCGAFFEY 5 out of 9 found this review helpful
After testing the SiPix StyleCam Delux with a few pictures, I took it on a car rally. I took many great once-in-a-lifetime shots. I get back and spend hours on three different computers to try to download pictures. I'M A COMPUTER TECHNICIAN! I really want to smash this thing to bits and I just might. Do NOT buy this [junk]!
You can get better for the price March 25, 2003 Bob (I originally reviewed this item when I first got it, the original should still be visible below) I initially liked this camera since it was very cheap (thirty dollars) and took decent pictures outdoors. However, it developed a strange problem whereby it chews through batteries (high quality ones!) VERY quickly. Brand new alkalines only last for about 30 shots with very little or no flash usage. NIMH batteries can't be used in this camera for more than about 5 shots. Seeing as how you occasionally see low end HP and Kodak digicams for about 50 bucks there's no reason to buy this thing. You'll save money on batteries alone. (old review below)For the price...this camera's not half-bad. The good: Outdoors, it takes shots that range from ok to surprisingly good. It includes a microphone for recording videos with audio, something that some much more expensive cameras don't have. The ability to record up to 50 minutes of just audio is nice. The bad: Indoors the camera has a lot of trouble with washed out colors and dark corners (when using the flash). This comes up, for me at least, in about half of the indoor pictures I take. To me this isn't a big problem, but to others it could be. Despite 16mb of memory, it can, oddly, only hold nine appproximately 250k high-res images (it holds 150 640x480 images which are sufficient for PC viewing and emailing). This seems weird as 250kB times 9 images is only 2.25 Mb. The camera is certainly no SLR, but for the price it does pretty well.
