 Great camera for the money July 21, 2010

I read the Amazon reviews of this camera before buying & so knew the problems people have had. I bought the SDHC memory card for the camera & have experienced NO PROBLEMS AT ALL WITH THE CAMERA. I took the camera on a trip to Italy & used a non-HD setting for my videos with great results. The still pictures aren't as good as those from my Canon EOS, but that's to be expected.
I didn't use the time-lapse function so can't comment on that function of the camera.
I uploaded both stills & videos to my Mac & had no trouble editing them using iPhoto & iMovie.
This is a great mini-HD camera for the money!!

I've had my unit for several weeks and its a lot of fun. It's not my primary camera nor is it my primary camcorder but I wanted something to play with that gives HD and could take pictures and this fits the bill. I live in Hawaii and love to film different locations. The HD does justice to the beauty of the islands. The pictures are fine and the unit is very lightweight, easy to carry. I use a Gorilla tripod with it and do most of my filming using the tripod. Handheld is not good, the picture is too shaky. I don't use it indoors much so low light is not a big requirement for me. The other feature I really like is the time lapse photography. Never having had a camera that did this (too expensive), this feature is an added bonus and lots of fun. I use 1 sec intervals most of the time. I use a Class 4 16GB SDHC and that gives me over 2 hours of video recording time (154 mins at 720/60p).
Pros: Lightweight, beautiful HD videos, Time Lapse, uncomplicated controls, several resolutions (720/30p, 720/60p, 1080/30p), expandable memory, 3x zoom for still photography (digital zoom for video)
Cons: No flash, no image stabilization

Please Please Please don't waste money or time with this camcorder. In a nutshell, The Video is terrible, they list this as a 7.1 mp camera but my cell phone shots look better, not to mention my phone has a flash. It seems like samsung rushed production of this model.

i had ordered this camera back in April for it superior features. I was initially planning to buy Sony Bloggie PM5 ,but settled for this one.
Very disappointed with this product, The moment i opened the box, expected a red camcorder, got a pink one instead.
Had the horrible click noise on video playback. Bad audio, Seems like most of the reviewers are also experiencing the same audio issue. Thought high speed SDHC card will solve it, Used a Class 10 SD card, but the audio clicking did not go away
Video quality left a lot to be desired, very poor video in moderate light. In bright sunlight the video is good but the audio clicking kills it.
LCD display also is not too bright even after changing the brightness to maximum.
Built-in software is another disappointment.
Overall a very disappointing product from Samsung

initially i was taken by the camera's sexy look and colors and since it was for the family, i ordered it.
i should have listened to my gut feelings though, when its release date got pushed back and back again - but i thought they are just fine-tuning the last little details. i got it 6 weeks too late and after running some basic tests i am NOT a happy man. the video part is working all right, however, the audio part is getting a very loud, mechanical-sounding background noise, similar to that of an old movie-projector. this noise is CONSTANT. on top of this, the audio disappears after 6 seconds, there is 10 seconds of silence, then again, 8 seconds of sound - with the chatter - before it dies again.
other on-line reviews with similar problems suggested i should buy a faster sdhc card because of the hd requirements, but after inserting a sandisk extreme, 30mb/sec card, the problem remained.
called samsung tech support where a very helpful lady suggested resetting everything - which i did - that did not help either.
oh....did i mention the enclosed cd with the manual - a pdf file - can not be opened ???
