Product Description As a new updated model, the PHOTTIX® CLEON II is a hybrid (wired and wireless) shutter release for cameras. The pack for the PHOTTIX® CLEON II consists of a small remote control (transmitter), receiver and either one of the optional cables depending on the model of camera to be controlled. When used wireless, the transmitter and receiver can be pared by any one of 16,000,000 channels (Smart Code) within the working distance of 100 meters (320ft). The PHOTTIX® CLEON II supports the following functions: single shot mode, 2 seconds delay, continuous, as well as bulb mode for long exposures. The PHOTTIX® CLEON II can be used with a wide variety of cameras just plug in a suitable cable to the receiver. Complete list of connecting cables available is provided below. The transmitter has a single button to activate the cameras shutter, a mode switch and a retractable antenna. The receiver can be attached to the hot shoe of the camera (facing forwards or backwards), or simply be placed alongside. Like the transmitter, the receiver has a shutter release button. The remotes shutter release button functions similarly to that of the cameras: a half press initiates autofocus on the camera and a complete press of the button takes a snap. The function selector allows selecting between three different modes: S/B - single exposures or bulb mode, 2S - single exposures with a 2 second delay, and Continious - multiple exposures Moving the receiver mode switch to Hold allows it to be used for bulb-mode (long exposures) without having to hold the shutter button pressed all the time. When using the receiver as a wired remote, there is no need to power it on.

Works great, costs less July 7, 2010 Michael B. Spotts (San Diego, CA) Mine has been a big help, especially for self-portraits while backpacking (I like to get far away, in the landscape).
Works as advertised, batteries seem to last long. No complaints.
Funky Gadget July 7, 2010 F. Tan (Savannah, GA) This is a really good quality little remote.
I only bought it after a lot of research and finally decided that this one looked the LEAST cheap and had a fairly strong following.
Although it is made in China, when I finally got around to messing with it, it didn't FEEL like how you would expect something "Made in China" to feel.
It has a fast response time and does what it's supposed to do.
The only problem i have it that the receiving end that attaches to the camera, is a bit bulky and big.
Good purchase :)
Great unit. Fantastic value. June 10, 2010 Gav (Saskatchewan, Canada) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've been using this little guy with a 50D, and I love it.
I haven't had any issues with batteries dying, or the cord falling out, or any of that. Maybe I'm just lucky, who knows.
This remote only has a half dozen features, and it's a good thing because it doesn't come with English instructions.
Luckily everything is outlined very nicely on the English printed box. But really, it took about 2 minutes to master.
The performance of the C8 is excellent! It's not pretty fast. It's as though you're pushing the button on the camera.
The continuous shot feature. It takes up to 5 shots, one every 2 seconds, or until you touch the button again. It works, I don't know, I'll probably use it.
It also has a 2 second delay that's enabled from the remote. This I found really handy, since I didn't have to run back to the camera.
A couple things I didn't think were good design decisions were the plastic mounting foot on the receiver, and the telescoping antenna.
Those who had a cordless phone in the 80s know where I'm coming from. Other than that, it's built well.
All in all, the Cleon II is a great value. I highly recommend it.
Works as expected May 26, 2010 Richard S. Penn 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After figuring out the instructions were printed on the box, it works as expected. The connector that plugs into the camera is a little loose but I can still plug it in and let it hang from the camera (Canon 7D) without falling out. It also fits into the hot shoe mount with no problems. Range seems adequate and the half button press on the shutter works.
How can you use a flash with this May 10, 2010 G. Dexter (St. Paul, MN USA) 1 out of 5 found this review helpful
I am interested in this accessory, but it does not look like you can use a flash with it.
If you plug it in, is there still a way to connect to a flash such as a studio light?
