Not A Bad Camcorder,But For Pics? July 10, 2010 Ralph (Iowa) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Got Mine From Camera World,At A Pretty Good Price,At The Time.
For Pics,I'm Sticking With My Kodak 4330.(Beautiful!)Terrible In Video.
For Video,This One.(Indoors-Grainy On Some,Not All-Lighting)Outdoors-Better.
OF INTEREST:Fully-Charged Battery Is 3 Yellow Bar's.
I'm Using Windows XP,SP3,USB+Card Reader,Then To PC,Instead of ArcSoft Disc.
(Rec Is Set Setting)On Changes In Resolution Etc:
Camera Need's To Be On,Hooked Directly By USB On Camera To USB.
This Is What I'm Using For Settings(Not Too Bad.)
Photo)Super Fine,8M,Contrast-Hard,Sharpness-Soft.
Video)720P30,Super Fine,Hard,Soft.
PROS:When Charging Removable Battery,AC Plug Is Green,Camera Is Red,Then No Light On Camera After Charge,(A Real Plus.)
Nice Chime Welcome Screen When Fired-Up.
When Card Is Full,Camera Chimes,(I Like That.)
Self-Timer Is 10 Seconds,No Way To Change It,Chimes,Then Snaps Pic.(COOL.)
Microphone Sound Is Clear Sounding,And So Is Everything Else,That It Picks Up.
CONS:Video Is Quicktime And Or Real Player,No Windows Media Player.
No Display of Time And Date On Video Footage And Pics(BAD.)
Battery And Card Access Door-Flimsy!Tabs Could Break.
Manual Not To Complete And Clear On Quite A Few Things.
Macro Mode:So-So.
(Steady Hand)Literally,When Shooting Pics.
Disc Gave Me Some Issues,Especially(DirectX9.)
Very Sensitive Condensor Microphone(Pick's Up Everything!)Camera Noises(BAD!!)
No Sesitivity Settings For Microphone.
The Wide To Telephoto Is Super Sensitive,Play With It.Up & Down Slide For This.White Line Bars Show,When You Have It.
Wish This Had A Window Viewfinder,Like On My Kodak 4330.
No Volume Settings.
No Lens Cap.
No Way To Try And Hook To A Tripod(BAD!)
Hope This Helps Everyone Out There,That Want To Know,Cause I Sure Did.
Great Camera for the Price June 23, 2010 JoJo (Arlington, TX USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought this camera to take with me to concerts and other events with friends and family. It has since become the main camera I use for oral histories as well. The video quality is good when put against other cameras in the price range. I'm not afraid of it getting bumped, dropped or spilled on at concerts because the price isn't bad. The pictures turn out quite well, although I generally just use this camera for videos. The videos turn in to good looking DVD's for the oral histories I do for my job. The DVD's play well and look good on a TV or computer monitor. Yes, you could get higher quality for money, it's not perfect, but for the price it's great. The memory it uses is cheap, so you never have to run out. People who complain about the quality: well, I posted a video of a freak occurance at the last concert I was at (on youtube), the BAND found it and said that it was the best video of that part of the show. It was clear (even though it was in the dark) and the audio was quite clear. [...]
My main complaint is that there is no way to mount it to a tripod, it just doesn't have one. I got around it, however, by making a cradle type thing for it out of a shoe box. It works for the purpose and if it ever starts wearing out I can just make anohter one.
The best way to learn about the camera and it's features, is to just play with it. The instruction manual is pointless.
As far as cameras in this price range go, this is a really good camera. I like it better than other cameras that cost twice as much with a similar design. Those produce the same quality for a much higher price and are simply not worth it.
For anyone who loves to document major life events but not major camcorder prices, I would HIGHLY recommend this camera.
The cheap price reflects the camera quality May 27, 2010 Robin Billington Don't fall for the inexpensive price. This camera is not even worth a cent. The video quality is poor, and it is far from user friendly. Mine ended up in the trash because it was useless for any video whatsoever.
I'm please with my purchase! April 5, 2010 W. Jones Although this is a small and inexspensive video camera/camera it takes great pictures and video's. For the price it is a great deal, once you figure out how to use its features, instructions didn't describe very well. I purchased a 8GB card to store my video's and photo's on. I have yet to use it long enough to determine how long the battery last, but so far it has exceeded my expectations. Not good in low light area's as it has no light or flash. I would definitely recommend this video camera if you are looking for something that takes decent pictures and video, is very light weight, fits in your pocket, and is inexpensive.
Great camera for the price!! February 18, 2010 J. Conley (Kenosha, WI) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought this camera first because of the price, and 2nd because of what it can do. We have a JVC older model VHS-C camera which is now just too bulky when it comes to traveling. We are getting ready to take a cruise and I thought this would be perfect for that occasion. I've tested it out briefly and will write another review once I'm back from our trip but based on the initial test this camera is great! Too cool! I'm looking forward to perhaps including a video review next time. So far so good!!
