| Customer Reviews: Good DVD Player. HDMI 1.0 limited. October 17, 2007 Jimmy (USA) On sale, this HK DVD37 merits consideration. The vido quality is clear and crisp. The color transfer however is average as the HDMI 1.0 does not measure up to the more recent version 1.3. Also, for surround sound, an optical or other audio out must be used as the 1.0 only supports PCM output. Please note as well, that some DVD+R brands seem incompatible with this unit. TDK for example. The user interface, remote and menu's are easy to understand or navigate. The DVD37 seems soild and well built. With a better than average picture, yet not the best by any means, this HK unit would make sense only if the price is right.
Good seller, crappy product September 13, 2007 T. Ferguson (California) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This DVD player just turned me off of Harmon/Kardon products forever. It's packed full of features but is a total waste. It hardly plays any burned DVDs that play fine in players from 5 years ago regardless of -R or +R. Even with some pressed DVDs the menu functions do not work properly and are thus impossible to navigate or even watch the movie. It will occasionally freeze when viewing standard pressed DVDs as well as listening to CDs. Also don't really notice a difference in picture quality in the "up conversion" via the HDMI output. Don't waste your time or money on this product, you'll be disappointed.
