HP Printer July 1, 2010 Peggy King This is a great printer for Windws 2000 and up. Does not have support for Win 98 SE or earlier. Print quality is excellent. Good buy.
dont do it June 27, 2010 Robert (World Citizen) I have had this for years, it's the worst printer I ever had.
I have had to hassle with it far more than even an old fussy dot matrix, lining up the papers
the first thing i noticed was the paper feed, it sucks them all at once, lots of jams, the ink jets get clogged easy
wastes a lot of ink to clean them, ink smudges too easy on prints, even though they have tried to improve this with the ink
its a photo printer, some nice features, but print quality is not great, even with the best paper/ink
the software is temperamental, nice free programs but really a hassle to print, wasted so much business card stock and so many hours trying to make this thing work right I wish I had a time machine to go back and buy anything else but this.
ever seen office space? March 2, 2010 Mark Halpin (St. Louis, MO) Words cannot express what a lousy product this is. For the past two+ years it has been driving me crazy.
It never acknowledges the fact that it is full of paper. It stops every print job halfway through, and half the time you have to turn it off to start again, which means an infinite number of worthless half-documents, wasting paper and ink. It prints test pages for no reason. That stupid blinking on button, the printer thingy inside moving back and forth over and over again for no reason, sucking pages halfway in and then blinking stupidly, again.
For every one page of printed material it yields, there is at least one it wastes. And the ink ain't cheap, so what you wind up with is an expensive, frustrating process to get a three-page paper printed. It would literally be faster to just write it out by hand. But hey, at least I always have tons of scrap paper on hand.
So finally, earlier today, after about 10 attempts, each one ending in the inevitable "out of paper" warning after one page, I did what I have longed to do for years: I went Office Space on the thing. (If you don't know what I'm referring to that means I smashed it into pieces in front of my dumpster and then gleefully threw the remains in. This was by far the most enjoyable interaction I have had with this printer to date).
I got this free, so why complain? Because the ink isn't free, because I've lost years of my life to stress, and because HP clearly gave it away because it was garbage. I will never purchase a HP product, or accept one for free, ever again.
But if you really want to recreate that scene from Office Space, this is your guy right here.
Don't buy HP. HP-small ink cartridge constantly needs refilling. February 20, 2010 Mel Fullmer (Salt Lake City, UT USA) This printer works ok, but it runs out of ink too quickly.
It uses the HP 92 cartridge, which HP builds at half capacity.....
it could hold twice as much ink except HP builds it so
only half the cartridge holds ink. The other half is empty...
full of hot air.
And to make matters worse, my cartridge store says HP
is now building more and more printers with small
ink cartridges, so they can sell twice as many cartridges.
This is a total waste. This means HP is making me buy
new cartridges twice as often. More trips in my car.
Or more trips for the FedEx guy.
Find a printer that prints many more pages per cartridge.
Spread the word, don't buy HP.
Absolute garbage February 3, 2010 Kenneth Goze (Chicago) It produces decent printouts WHEN it decides to print. I have to reload drivers on almost a monthly basis. If you rely on it as a first-line printer, you're begging for trouble.
