The V700 uses MPEG-4, a high-compression, high-quality movie clip file format, which can record up to 3 or 4 times longer than MJPEG, the usual format for DSC movie clips. It supports more than one hour of video and audio recording time if you are using a 256 MB memory card. Movies can then be played back at TV quality as the V700 can process movies at up to 30 frames per second. Clip length is limited only by the amount of memory available. The Movie Stabilizer feature ensures smooth video through correction of lateral and vertical camera movement caused by the operator's hand shaking. Additionally, the V700 provides a built-in movie clip editing function, enabling you to select part of a movie clip for saving, during playback. It also allows you to capture a selected part of a movie clip as a still image during playback.

The 2.0-inch TFT LCD screen provides a large focusing area and is also home to the camera's wider range of creative controls. The intuitive graphical user interface (GUI) allows you to easily navigate the camera's menu of features and capabilities. It also has a full range of custom choices including a variety of exposure modes, five ISO settings, and more.

• The Auto Macro function automatically adjusts shooting distance and focus. Press the macro button in Auto mode to set the camera to adjust distance and focus automatically from between four centimeters and infinity.
