Amazon.com Product Description The Minolta Maxxum XTsi combines all the control of traditional manual SLR cameras with automatic functions for flexibility and creative control. It has a precise, three-point crosscut auto focusing system that is able to track a subject quickly and efficiently. The camera then constructs a sophisticated 14- segment metering pattern around the subject and makes slight adjustments to set the correct exposure. With a unique eye-start operation, the Maxxum XTsi provides an instant response to any situation. When the camera is brought to the eye, the autofocus and auto exposure systems are activated automatically, without having to touch the shutter-release button. You can also select several preset shooting modes, including portrait, landscape, close-up, sports/action, and night portrait mode. In aperture priority mode, the camera's system will automatically select the correct shutter speed when you choose an aperture. In shutter priority mode, you can select any shutter speed and the XTsi will set the best lens aperture. However, if you prefer, the Maxxum XTsi is also manually adjustable. This is ideal in unusual shooting conditions. The built-in flash provides coverage to 28mm, with synch speeds up to 1/125 seconds. It features a red-eye-reduction preflash and can be used in all exposure modes. With continuous film advance, you can shoot up to two frames per second so you'll catch all the action. You have a choice of regularly framed shots or panorama format pictures. This model includes two zoom lenses to give you ultimate flexibility in composition.

I am always crazy about Minolta Cameras and lenses as they are THE BEST. Earlier I had a Minolta Freedom Zoom and I was looking for the SLR camera which is a dream for evry1 who loves photography. When I looked into XTSI, I felt that evrything I want in a SLR is there. And that too with a Silver Zoom lens.Last long week end We all went to LA and believe me I shot 9 film rolls. Especially Fire works at disney land and Dolphin show at Sandiego were too good. (...) It is a camera which is affordable but with excellant features. Just Dont MISS it.
Best Quality Photos Ever Taken! April 1, 2001 Laura Sailors (Paradise, CA United States) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
I love this camera. It is easy to use, the photo quality is outstanding, and the telephoto lens is a Blessing for taking shots of wild animals. I bought this camera 2 months ago and have never been disappointed. I've also owned a canon rebel g, and a samsung 4000 SLR. But this camera is the best!
Crisp photos, lots of features! February 8, 2001 phdezra (USA) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I bought this camera about a year ago and LOVE it. I now have three lenses for it (just added a wide-angle) and the picture quality is still as sharp as day one. If you are a novice/amateur, just turn it on and shoot away while letting the camera do all the work. But if you are a little more advanced, you can play with the settings for aperture, exposure, etc. as much as you want. This is THE BEST Minolta on the market, as far as I am concerned!
I Love my XTsi! October 12, 2000 R. Meador (Charlotte, NC USA) 16 out of 17 found this review helpful
I bought this camera a year ago (from Wolf Camera in Charlotte). I love it! It is easy to use and produces sharp, clear photos. I have to turn off the autofocus sometimes, but I think that would be true of any autofocus camera. Cameras aren't as smart as the human eye. I like how I can have complete control over the aperture and shutter speed (as well as focus), or I can let the camera control any or all of these functions. There are lots of other configurable features as well. I initially bought a 28-105 Sigma lens and just added a 70-300. I'm cooking with gas now! This is a pretty good price.

i am a theatre lighting designer, and due to the nature of my work i need a camera that can do the impossible (low light levels, and low shutter speeds are the norm in my line of work). i had researched cameras for quite some time before buying this one two year ago and i have found its performance to be more than adequate. i do not use the autofocus functions, as most any camera will have trouble autofocusing in low light, but the metering is better than any other camera that i have seen. the other function that made me fall in love with the camera was the one touch fully manual function, no need to focus and no need to set aperture and shutter speed (this way i could hand it to someone who has never shot before and still know that the shot will be as crisp and clear as that of a seasoned photographer. this camera is perhaps the most important tool/toy that i have ever bought.
