 OK - Not great February 9, 2010

I bought this to use at my office desktop computer. Picture quality is OK. Not outstanding. My Sony VAIO laptops have better quality webcams. I was expecting better image quality based on many independent reviews, but it is just OK. Under conditions of a well-lit studio, the image would look very good, but most people won't have that kind of lighting.
This looked like a returned item, although it was sold as new. There were some scuffs on it.
The software installation was VERY POOR. It required 3 reinstallations before it would even recognize the camera. This is unacceptable. I would have been better off letting Windows install a driver for it, use a third party video conferencing setup such as skype, and throwing away the installation disk.
The setup/configuration software that comes with the camera is poorly designed and not particularly intuitive. The setup window wants to open partly off the edge of the desktop. It seems the program doesn't sense the screen resolution of the display. Dragging the window to the center just makes it pop back to the original location. The buttons on the software are non-intuitive and you have to explore to figure out where the button is.
The stand is kind of cheesy and could have been designed better. Some people may like it, especially if you take the camera and move it around by hand. I think the stand could have been much more compact. The cord is of a nice length.
I'll keep the camera and use it with skype and Polycom software, but I'll avoid using the Logitech software unless absolutely needed.

I haven't had time to use this to much yet, but from what I can see already this is one great cam. Tracking is wonderful and so is the pic on it. The only thing I have a problem with is the right light function. It seems it go into digital distortion when used other than that it is a great cam.

This webcam works great, I am glad I bought it after reading some of the reviews and the high ratings. Actually, I bought two of these webcams, along with two Logitech microphones, one set for me and one for my boyfriend who had recently moved away due to a job offer. I was crying for days, and just talking on the phone was not enough. This webcam did the trick, I use Skype and I can see him so crisp and clear!!!! Also, the microphone is wonderful (bought separately). I recommend you get the microphone too since it allows you a whole new level of portability. My boyfriend, he would be in the living room, but would go to the kitchen for snacks and I could still hear him perfectly clear with the Logitech microphone (looks like a little black stick), and I could also see him sooo well even though he was farther away in the kitchen and the camera remained in the living room. By the way the microphone is amazing, top quality product here, I mean, it is way better than talking on the phone when it comes to voice quality.
ALSO, if you are going to use this webcam for Skype and video chatting, I recommend you have TOP INTERNET SPEED, I mean, really high speed internet. The webcam produces high definition, top quality video, and for the person on the other end to see it as such you need to have a lot of bandwidth, in other words, really fast internet. Same goes for the other person, so you can see them in HD too.
