With an excellent price-to-performance value, this card is an ideal expansion option for the smallest of devices, including MP3 players, digital cameras, PDAs, smartphones, and more.

An SD memory card reader makes it easy to upload files from an SD memory card to a computer. With a 1 GB capacity, this memory card quickly and easily downloads and transfers digital files between a computer and the Internet, as well as other digital devices.

For added reliability and durability, the solid-state SD memory card is built of nonvolatile memory components and has no moving parts to wear out or break. The Kingston Retail SD card is backed by a limited lifetime warranty.

4 out of 5 stars Average SD Card   March 8, 2010
Ignacious
I have had a lot of SD cards over the years and this one is just like any other. It is solid and have had no problems with it.

1 out of 5 stars quit after < 1 year   December 20, 2009
J. Wayland Eheart (east central Illinois)
This is a review of the Kingston 1GB SD card only, not other cards by the same manufacturer. It is not marked as to class. I bought it about a year ago to use in a picture frame, not a camera. Then I decided to use a USB stick for the picture frame and used this for backup for the files I am currently working on on my computer. About 2 months ago I started getting error messages that prevented me from writing files to the card. I formatted it, thus losing some of the earlier backup, but then recopied all the current files I could think of. It worked ok for about another 6 weeks. But last week, the same thing happened again, but this time it immediately stopped accepting files, and reformatting didn't solve the problem. I then switched to a Kingston 4 GB class 4 card that I had, and so far, all is well. I don't know what could be causing this problem; whether it's the class or just some environmental problem. If these things are not well shielded from weak stray magnetism, it could indict all cards of this type. I did not subject it to any strong magnetic fields, I can assure you. I can't now remember what the error messages said verbatim, but I recall that the problem was only with writing, not reading. So perhaps this card would work in a camera, but I'm not sure I would want to risk losing important shots.

5 out of 5 stars Kingston, a great company   January 31, 2009
gman (Northern Colorado)
I've purchased several Kingston memory products, this being the latest. I've not had any problems with the SD Card I've purchased. However, I want to tell you how good Kingston's customer service is. For a different product (DIMMS for PC memory) I installed in my PC, there was a problem and I ended up frying the memory slot. I called Kingston about it and they had me ship them my PC. They ended up replacing the Mother board and sending the unit back to me and they never charged me any shipping. And they replaced the DIMM as well. Incidentally they claimed the memory chip was installed improperly, yet they still cover not only the original equipment of theirs, but they also, fixed my PC at no charge to me. I will always buy Kingston from now on.

1 out of 5 stars Hangs my old plain Nikon CP3700 20% of the time!   October 22, 2008
Xeno (Northeast US)
Such a disappointment - I own 2 Nikon Coolpix 3700 cameras, and they work fine with all other cards... but with this Kingston model, about 20% of my shots result in "Card error", after which the camera hangs up, and it takes a while to restart it (and also lose all my shot settings). So annoying!

3 out of 5 stars Functionally reliable, but structurally fragile   July 15, 2008
Christopher Keith Calmer (Alpharetta, GA USA)
I've owned this card for just over two years now, and it's served me quite well in terms of reliability in its main purpose: to provide removable data storage for my handheld device (a Palm Treo 700wx). Its transfer speeds are about average, which is fine for an "economy-level" flash storage card such as this one.

The only complaint I have is that when it was only a couple of months old, the outside edge of the card very easily "chipped away" through normal handling and use with the phone. I'm very careful with all my electronics, and have been so with my phone as well; it's never been dropped, etc. But after a few dozen insertions and removals - which I expect any REMOVABLE flash memory card to easily endure - the portion of this card that sticks out (i.e., the part you press to insert and remove it) began splitting, and soon the edge chipped away completely. It seems that the plastic material of which the card case is constructed is just a bit too brittle compared to many others out there. For a product that is used in this way, and therefore must be able to endure a slight bit of pressure on its edge many times over months/years as it serves its purpose, a slightly softer, more flexible material should be used.

Now, to its credit, although the edge of the card was "broken off" soon after I had bought it, the card continued - even to this very day, over two years later - to function with flawless reliability.

So although I can tout this card's service record in the long term, there are better options out there that are equally reliable and inexpensive, but which will not snap on the pressure edge quite so readily. Hence, I give it 3/5 stars.
