It includes a new distance-encoding device that enables improved calculation for flash exposure with Maxxum 5 and 7 cameras when used with Konica Minolta 3600HS D and 5600HS D flashes.

This 28-100mm f3.5-5.6 D Series lens has a minimum focus distance of 1.6 feet (18.9 inches) throughout its zoom range. The lens is constructed of ten elements in eight groups, and it employs one aspheric lens element to combat distortion and aberrations and create beautiful images. It also utilizes a circular aperture to give a natural appearance to specular highlights in out of focus background areas.
